4hr Fishing Trips are on the Inshore Banks & Reefs this maximises your fishing time on the water & less time travelling, these half day trips are ideal for family’s with youngsters & people out fishing for the first time at sea, or groups just out for a fun few hours.

Offers a great range of species to catch including Plaice, Bream, Bass, Smooth Hounds, Red & Tub Gurnard, Mackerel, Conger Eels etc…… Maximum 10 Anglers onboard for Space & Comfort.

Drifting is the preferred method as it covers more ground and the movement of the bait entices inquisitive plaice & Bream. The ideal drift speed is slow & occasionally lifting the rod tip and letting the bait flutter back down can also induce a bite.

Keeping the bait moving, either through the natural drift or by slowly “twitching” it back in short increments. This is crucial for attracting the fish’s attention. Plaice bites often start as a series of plucks or gentle rattles. Resist the urge to strike immediately. Instead, release a little slack line to allow the fish time to take the bait fully, then gently lift the rod or let the line tighten to set the hook.

Tackle & Bait

Rigs: Use simple rigs, such as a running ledger rig or a two-hook flapper/spreader rig & 1up & 1 down rig. These allow the bait to be presented close to the seabed and offer less resistance when a fish takes the bait.

Attractors: Plaice are visual feeders and are attracted to colour and movement. Add a sequence of small, brightly colored beads (black and green, or red and yellow combinations are popular) or a small, flashing spoon just above the hook.

Hooks: Use small, fine-wire hooks, such as a size 1 or 1/0 Aberdeen or Circle hooks as plaice have relatively small mouths.

Baits: Fresh, wriggling baits are best.

Top baits: Black lugworm, blow lugworm, or ragworm.

Cocktail baits: Tipping worm baits with a long, thin strip of squid, mackerel belly, razorfish, or prawn adds movement and scent, often increasing effectiveness.
