Brighton Wreck Fishing Charters
Brighton Wreck Fishing Charters – 9hr Offshore Turbot / Wrecking Trips
You travel to the offshore Fishing Banks & to the many Channel Shipwrecks aboard the Channel Diver for a full day of fishing. We sometimes travel 30+miles offshore in search of the fish.
Pollock fishing starts early season with their arrival of the Sussex coast from mid January – May in good size & numbers and these fish can be caught all season as they stay around til late October/November.
We fish for Pollock drifting the wrecks with artificial lures, red gills, jelly worms & shads attached to a French boom with a 10oz lead fixed to the bottom of the boom to give it all a bit of weight and stability.
Lowering your lure slowly to the seabed as we approach the wreck then slowly wind up 15-30 turns on the reel to attract the fish to the moving lures repeating the process until a take or we have passed the wreck. This process is repeated over and over again until we change to another wrecks.
Turbot, Brill & Skate Fishing is over the deep offshore banks drifting baits on the seabed, usually strips of Mackerel over the banks in search of the fish. It is also possible to catch Greater Weaver fish whilst drifting the banks so great care needs to be taken to avoid being stung with their venum.

The Greater Weever fish is a venomous fish with a painful sting, the venum comes from their dorsal spines on their back just behind the head. If you catch one great care must be taken when you get it to the boat as they wriggle about and there is a chance you might get stung in the hand whilst trying to unhook the fish, causing a severe stinging pain. To treat a sting, immerse the affected area in hot water, as hot as you can bear. Carefully remove any spines, and seek medical advice if needed.
Immediate pain: A sting is typically accompanied by intense, burning pain that can feel like stepping on a sharp object.
Other symptoms: Swelling, throbbing, numbness, and redness can also occur.
First aid: Remove any visible spines with tweezers.
Immerse the affected area in the hottest water you can tolerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps to break down the protein in the venom.
Gently squeeze the wound to encourage bleeding and wash out more venom.
Clean the area with soap and fresh water.
You should seek medical attention if the pain does not subside, if the sting is severe, or if you experience symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or fever.
Out on the banks we also catch Blonde Rays, Undulate Rays & Thornback Rays
Anglers must phone the evening before to check we are still good to go.
