DIEPPE FECAMP Courseulles PORT EN BESSIN ST VAAST LA HOGUE CHERBOURGH
The seaside town & harbour of Courseulles Sur Mer is situated almost in the centre of the Seine Bay just 9 miles to the west & a 30 minute drive from the ferry port of Ouisterham which is operated by Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth.
Courseulles is a typical French seaside holiday town, it boasts a good harbour and marina and whether its B&B or a nice Hotel that you are looking for it has plenty of accommodation to choose from. There are some excellant restaurants in the town and as with other French seaside towns, seafood is the local speciallity but thankfully not the only thing on the menu.
The Hotel De Paris The Hotel La Cremaillere
There are all the usual line in French shops with Boulangeries & Pattiseries available close to the harbour for breakfasts & lunches, you can't beat the smell & taste of fresh baking and bread in the morning. There are a couple of street markets a week selling farmers produce and other wares.
Courseulles is situated in the heart of the Alies invasion area of Juno with the area of Sword to the East & Gold to the West, To the west you also have the artificial harbour and town of Arromanche. Arromanche is the area where the British built their Mulberry harbour to enable troopships and merchantships to unload their cargo's in calm water.
Courseulles harbour offers great access to all the D-Day wrecks but just like Port en Bessin the harbour of Courseulles is very tidal and only has a window off 2 hours either side of HW to gain access in and out of the harbour, timimngs are paramount so we don't miss the lock.
As you can see the tide goes out a long way

There are lots of unknown targets that we have still to look at and groups willing to be adventurous diving guinea pigs the results can be rewarding
There are lots of wrecks to choose from when diving over in Normandie, many unidentified and most very rarely dived. The marine life is absolutely incredible, teaming with fish, crabs, lobsters, and free swimming congers. The only thing is, the reason that there is so much to see and look at, is because the French have a strict law which states, that no one shall, whilst diving with aqualung remove anything from the seabed or especially from any ship wreck, be it metal or edible. And this is a strict rule which applies to everyone, so please
look don't touch.
